Skills & Values: Family Law helps students put into practice many of the skills necessary for a family law practice. The chapters address core topics covered in a typical family law class. Following a brief introduction, the chapters contain exercises that involve practical skills such as interviewing clients, drafting retainer agreements, and preparing arguments for common family law motions. Understanding that family law has unique challenges and characteristics, the chapters in Family Law also involve students in addressing issues such as secondary trauma. Each exercise contains self-assessment materials that further assist students in thinking about the issues and tasks presented in the problem.
