Manuscript roll. Title supplied by cataloger. Physical description: 42 lines in columns (each 340 x 114 mm); written in black ink. Verso blank. Encased in a beaten metal tube decorated with bunches of grapes, hearts (2 plain, 2 pierced by arrows), two shofars, and two scenes from Esther's banquet in relief. There are also Hebrew inscriptions, the largest of which, near the opening, reads "mishteh Ester" (Esther's banquet). At the center of the tube, opposite the opening, is an ivory cartouche carved in relief with a picture of the Persian king approaching Esther, who is lying on a sofa. Above the scene is a Hebrew inscription in small script; below in larger script is inscribed "taḥat Vashti" ("instead of Esther": Esther 2:4). The tube is sealed at either end by ivory carved with hearts in relief; at one end the two hearts are pierced by arrows, while at the other the two hearts have wings. The scroll handle extends by 54 mm at one end and is carved with overlapping hearts with wings; at the other end it is capped by a red gem. The outer edge of the parchment is attached to a metal rod decorated with alternating blue and green gems (3 blue and 2 green). In Hebrew.
