Summary

This work introduces researchers to the Spearman rank-order correlation coefficient, which is a measure of association between two ordinal, interval or ratio-level variables. The Spearman rank-order correlation coefficient measures whether there is a positive or negative monotonic relationship between two continuous variables. This example uses a subset of data from the World Bank's World DataBank online tool. It looks specifically at the correlation between the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita of a country and the percentage of a country's population that has Internet access.
