Summary

small tattoo of a butterfly on the upper calf of the right leg. Primary colors of red, yellow and blue. We found a shallow place with enough rocks in the bed to allow a crossing. Shaun crossed over and took the opposite bank. I took the nearer one. It was difficult walking. The undergrowth was constantly snagging our clothes and the briars tore at our hands and ankles. In my mind I slowly tortured the person who had called me out into this. Suddenly I heard a shout from Shaun who had gotten ahead of me. "I've found her...!" And so Sheriff Jason Duke gets his first murder case - with only a tattoo as clue - in the otherwise paradise of White Shoals, tucked in a cool valley surrounded by the Great Smoky Mountains.
