    Summary

    A recording produced as part of the AMA campaign against proposed legislation (HR 4222 & SB 909) that would add health insurance to the Social Security Act of 1935 (Public Law 74-271). Although these two bills did not pass, they are considered the precursor to the legislation eventually passed in 1965, as Public Law 89-97: Health Insurance for the Aged Act, later known as Title XVIII or Medicare.
