Summary

In the tradition of past food-centric films like "Big Night" and "Chocolat," this romantic comedy is also something to savor. Martha lives a single and quiet life centered on her passion for cooking and order. Head Chef at a very chic restaurant, Martha has no time for anything or anyone else. Her solitary and orderly life is shaken when a tragic accident kills her sister and brings her eight-year-old niece, Lina, to her doorstep. Martha soon finds herself struggling to care for her headstrong niece while maintaining her rigorous schedule at the restaurant. When a charming and carefree Italian chef named Mario is hired to cover the maternity absence of her assistant chef, Martha is suspicious that Mario intends to replace her. Mario has very different intentions and is instrumental in helping Martha adjust to her newfound parental role. Written and directed by Sandra Nettlebeck, this comedy won over 10 international film awards. IN GERMAN WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES. 106 Minutes

Martha is the chef who fusses and obsesses over each dish before it leaves the kitchen. The demands of her job and her natural shyness keep her from meeting new people. When her sister suddenly dies, Martha adopts Lina, her eight-year-old niece, completely changing both lives. Martha gets unexpected help from Mario, Martha's hunky new sous chef, who is not only a whiz on the chopping block but knows sundry magic tricks and jokes to keep Lina's spirits afloat. Just as Martha starts to grow attached to the girl, Lina's erratic father shows up demanding that he take her back to Italy with him.
